How to use a menstrual disc

Tampons sit in the vaginal canal and absorb your flow.

Traditional menstrual cups sit in the vaginal canal and use suction to stay in place.

How to Use : Step by Step

  1. Boil to Clean

    Clean your menstrual disc in boiling water for 5 mins, before first use and between cycles

  2. Squeeze & Insert

    Hold between your thumb & forefinger to squeeze. Insert by gliding it back & down towards tailbone

  3. Tuck & Check

    Push the front rim to tuck it up and check

  4. Remove & Reuse

    Untuck front rim and gently pull out

Month 1

Try inserting nixit menstrual disc before your period, so that you can get some practice with insertion and removal. Remember the three steps - insert, tuck and check.

Use nixit overnight or on lighter days.

Use a pad or a sanitary towel as back up and to give you some confidence.

Month 2

Try using nixit menstrual disc for your entire period. Always remember to insert, tuck and check.

Still use back up pads or sanitary towels if you feel you need to.

Empty nixit regularly so that you can get used to your flow and work out how long you can leave it in for at a time.

Month 3

By now, you should have a good idea of your flow, so you can leave nixit menstrual disc in for longer stretches on lighter days.

You’ll be so comfortable using nixit, that you may forget it’s there. Always remember to empty it at least every 12 hours!
